About Us
Weissen Geist Kennels is situated on a sixteen acre parcel of land located close to Ottawa Ontario Canada. It is a little piece of paradise where we are fortunate enough to have room for our son, our White Shepherds and German Shepherd dogs, as well as our Hanoverian horses, to enjoy plenty of space to live, grow and play.
Personally, I have owned and loved German Shepherd Dogs for over thirty five years. Throughout that time and for the last 15 plus years, I have had the pleasure to have White Shepherds as well. Although we are not a large kennel, we do have an occasional litter of pups available.
Our dogs are our personal pets and are part of our family. We want what is best for them.
Although there is opinions out there in regards to “White Shepherds” we do not breed just “for color”. When I plan a breeding, it is based on choosing parents “worthy of breeding” based on several factors, just as we do if we plan to breed with our colored dogs. Health, temperament, conformation, movement, all come into play. We want to breed to better a breed not just breed to breed. There will be many people who would say I am not breeding to better a breed if I breed a White Shepherd, as it is considered a fault in the German Shepherd breed… however, I do not agree. A white shepherd carries a masking gene which hides color. Yes, it is a disqualification in the CKC / AKC rule book to show Conformation with a White German Shepherd however, you can enter any other event / sport. I love all shepherds no matter the color. They are great dogs so to me, my White dogs are just as special as their colored relatives. With the White Shepherds, you can compete in UKC / AWSA and White Shepherd Specialty shows in Conformation. I am okay with that. Hopefully CKC and AKC will consider allowing the White Shepherd to show in Conformation again, under the umbrella of the White Shepherd dog as a separate breed in the future.

In saying all this, I will continue to do my best to breed wonderful dogs. The White Shepherd and the German Shepherd Dog.
We always keep in mind the health of our animals and breed our dogs to be both physically and mentally healthy.
All of our dogs are certified free of Hip and Elbow dysplasia prior to being considered for breeding use. Our dogs are also tested for DM (Degenerative Myelopathy) and MDRI (Multidrug Resistance Gene).
We are proud members of the The White Shepherd Club of Canada (WSCC), The American White Shepherd Association (AWSA) and The Canadian Kennel Club (CKC).
All of our pups come with limited registration papers which means they are sold on spay / neuter contract only.
Pups are checked out thoroughly by our veterinarian before they are released to their new families. The report the vet fills out when examining each puppy goes to the new owner, showing any and all findings at the time of the exam.
Pups receive their first vaccines, have a micro chip implanted and they are properly de-wormed before they go to their new homes.
If you are interested in our beautiful dogs, please feel free to look at our puppy page for updates. I will post when a litter is planned or available.
Potential owners will be properly screened to ensure a suitable match is made for both the dog and for the new owner (s).
Thank you..
